1 Minute Recharge

Do you feel like you are always on the go? Rushing around to get out the door in the morning and to school on time? Cramming everything you need to do in your precious prep time? Slammed with problems the minute you walk into school? We know this isn’t great for our health, but we also know how difficult it can be to take care of ourselves during our busy school days.

That’s why we love anything quick and simple that pays huge dividends for our health. The 1 Minute Recharge fits the bill! This is a fantastic, quick and simple tool to help yourself be in a better space to greet the stresses that will come your way, and a way to help put school to bed when you return home.

Once you arrive at your destination, you sit and do nothing for 1 minute:

  • Set your timer on your phone

  • Breathe slowly

  • Think of something that makes you feel relaxed, like lying on a beach and visualizing heat on your face, or walking through the woods, hearing the birds in the distance.

If silence is hard for you, put on music or a guided meditation. This might not feel easy at first if you aren’t used to sitting and doing nothing, but the more you do it, the easier it will become. You might find worries or your to-do list popping into your head. If you notice your monkey-mind acting up, concentrate on your breathing. Count as you inhale for 4, hold for 4-8 counts, and exhale for 4-8 counts, depending on your level of comfort.

This simple tool helps you better handle the stresses of your day, as well helping close out your work day so you can enter your home with calm and ease. It’s a simple practice that pays a lot of dividends. Give it a try!
